The Chandlers Ford Itchen Walk 2017
Look out for details of the 2017 Itchen Walk which will appear here from January 2017.
In the meantime, details of the 2016 Walk are shown below for reference.

Welcome to the Chandlers Ford Itchen Walk!
Raise money for your chosen community group, cause or charity by taking part in the next sponsored walk to be held on Sunday 12th June 2016.

Ask your supporters and donors to register for the walk and raise money. The sponsorship money you collect by using the BT MyDonate on-line method will be distributed 80% to the your chosen recipient (or 70% if collected manually), with the remainder going to Rotary supported charities and good causes - all sponsorship proceeds of the walk will be donated to community groups, causes or charities.
There will be two different walk lengths to suit different ages and preferences. The full walk will be about 10 miles long and the shorter walk about 7 miles long.
The walk will start at Kings Worthy following a route to Chandlers Ford along the Itchen Valley, following the River Itchen and the Itchen Navigation. If you do not wish to walk the whole length then you can start instead at Bar End, Winchester and walk about 7 miles. Why not take part and enjoy walking in the beautiful Itchen Valley which is so close to our community?
The walk will be fully marshalled and patrolled with medical services in attendance in case of any emergencies.
Registration costs £10 for adults and £5 for children up to 16 years of age. Early bookings will be at a reduced rate until 31st March 2016 of £8 for adults and £4 for children.
When registration opens during January 2016 we will be providing navigation buttons at the top of this screen which will allow you to register and take part!

How it went in 2015

The previous Itchen Walk in 2015 attracted over 70 walkers, raising almost £6,000 for different charities and good causes.

Causes supported were: Alresford Pigs Association; Alzheimers Society; Arthritis Research; Blue Cross; Brendon Care Home, Park Road; Cancer Research UK; Carers Together; Chandler's Ford Rainbows; Chandlers Ford Stroke Support Group; Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity; Eastleigh Games; Friends of In Touch; Girlguiding Chandler's Ford; Marie Curie; Naomi House; Rotary Club of Chandlers Ford & Itchen Valley; Rotary International; Save The Children; St Francis Animal Shelter; Winchester Cancer Therapy Centre - Wessex Cancer Trust.

Sunday 12th June 2016 will see the third sponsored walk along the Itchen Valley to Chandlers Ford. This is now an annual community event for the people of Chandlers Ford and the surrounding area. The increased the walk length in 2015 proved to be a success and so will be repeated in 2016, with a start point in Kings Worthy for those who prefer more of a challenge.
As before the reception point will be the Fryern Recreation Ground in Chandlers Ford, which is where the walk will also finish. After registration in the pavilion, walkers will be transported by bus to their chosen start point, either at Kings Worthy or at Bar end, Winchester.
